Swallowtails Retreat (Astley Estate)
'Swallowtails Retreat' is located on the Astley Estate (Rudds Farm) near Swanton Novers with the renowned, 'Swanton Novers National Nature Reserve' right on your doorstep allowing you to enjoy nature in unspoilt surroundings. The Astley Estate is committed to organic farming and supplies the well known food hall, 'Back to the Garden' near Letheringsett (well worth a visit). The estate has lots of tracks to cycle/walking track to enjoy the North Norfolk countryside and permission has been given for our campers to use the food and drink takeaway service at our neighbouring campsite, 'The Old Brick Kiln Campsite'.
Locally we have some great pubs which serve high quality food including 'The Hunworth Bell' and 'The Three Horseshoes' which supports many local ales. If you want to go further afield the North Norfolk coast is just a 15 minutes drive away.
This year, we have create this new pop up campsite and have purchased brand new, fully insulated 6m luxury 'Lotus Belle' tents. We also have our extra large luxury insuated yurt our the Rudds Farm location. All tents sleep between 4-7 people.
*Please be aware that this is a 'pop up' campsite. It is not an establish holiday park. The campsite is on a level paddock on a cut meadow (bare feet not advised as there are nettles in places).

Wood burning stove. An eco friendly 'starter fire' in the form of award winning heat logs and firelighters are provided. Additional fire logs can be purchased from the supplies shack.
Gas BBQ with side burner.
Bedding, towels, tea towels.
Hurricane candle holders, spot lights, solar panel kit to charge devices etc. 'Bluebell' (booked as Lotus Belle before July 4th) does not have charging points.
Water dispenser for drinking water. You can refill your water dispensers at the water point.
Crockery and cutlery, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, tea towel and scourer, washing up liquid, bottle opener, tin opener, cooking equipment, e.g. pots and pans, graters, wooden spoons, spatulas, salad bowls, chopping board and knives, bread knife, colander, tray, mugs, beakers, serving spoons, and BBQ utensils.
Availability for GLAMPING:
We have 14 extra large tent pitches at 'Swallowtails Retreat'. We do not have electric hook ups and we do not allow dogs. Sorry.
Each pitch has its own allocated portaloo this year and we will not be opening the shower block to campers to reduce Covid19 risk.
Set arrival days are the dark green dates on the calendar (we have 3 night minimum booking in the summer holiday). Our calendar is live and up to date. If there is no availability on the calendar, then there is no availability, we're afraid. The August Bank Holiday weekend is fully booked.
Check Availability for CAMPING:
The campsite has portaloos for each camping pitch, an open air washing up area and drinking water standpipes. We have a bike hire service (Huff and Puff) which can deliver bikes to the campsite (advance booking necessary - www.huffandpuffcycles.co.uk).
Wood, kindling and firelighters are available to purchase on arrival or from the wood store with honesty box in the washing up area. The nearest supermarket is in Melton constable which is 5 minute drive away.
