Experience, Connect and Recharge
Swallowtails provides a wonderful camping experience within the idyllic grounds of Holt Hall Environmental Learning Centre.
Where are we?
Swallowtails ticks all the boxes for the perfect camping holiday. We are just a few miles from the beautiful North Norfolk coastline. We are situated in the countryside on the outskirts of the charming and vibrant Georgian town of Holt. The town of Holt with its many gastro pubs and an array of galleries, antique shops, gift shops, clothes shops and the well known food hall, 'Bakers and Larners' provides plenty to do on the days you are not on the beach. The campsite itself is hidden away within the tranquil woodland glade well away from any roads with den building areas, kids playground and lake.
Swallowtails is not just a base to enjoy North Norfolk, but a place to spend quality time as well if you want to stay put and relax. At Swallowtails, we offers a range of focused activities for kids designed to allow them to connect with nature, develop their creativity, and make new friends! This gives parents the opportunity to truly relax in idyllic surroundings and have a day to themselves knowing that their children are being looked after by qualified nature and art activity leaders and/or join their kids on the family activities for some quality time together.
As well as offering extra large grass pitches with no extra charge for awnings and gazebos (no electric hook ups), we offer stylish, cosy, hassle free boutique glamping in the form of spacious insulated luxury yurts. We offer yurts that accommodate 4- 6 guests comfortably.
‘Why not come to a spot hidden in a woodland glade where you can dream under dark Norfolk skies, spotting shooting stars and knowing that a wood burning stove is warming your yurt for your return. Wake up refreshed within your quilted bubble and listen to the sound of the woodland as it comes alive. Children run free and adventure with new friends in the woodland and glades at Holt Hall.'
Who are we?
We are a couple who have lived in Norfolk since moving from London in 2005. In Freya’s case, it was a return to her home county after an eleven year absence in London studying and working as a scenic artist for theatre, film and television. We are environmentally minded and try to limit our impact on the environment as much as possible. We spend a lot of time at the campsite with our two children during the time that the campsite is open and really enjoy getting to know our guests.
