Our luxury yurts are extremely spacious for a family or group stay compared to other glampsites. We have 4 luxury 18ft yurts which sleep 4 people (a camp bed with bedding can be hired to sleep one extra person in each yurt if required). Our 18ft yurts have a crown cover to pull over at night if you do not want to stargaze.

Our yurts have a real sense of space and light inside with windows and skylights to light the interior in the day. All our yurts have proper wooden framed doors and have large wooden windows with shutters too. Each yurt has a handy en suite toilet/shower shed.

For group bookings wanting to be located together, please request this by sending an email to us and we will do our best to place your bookings together.
Once you have made payment, sit back and look forward to campfires, starry nights and bird song!
All term dates are based on North Yorkshire term dates.
We value our guests getting a good night's sleep and have a strict quiet time from 11pm to 7am. Just to clarify, many of our guests specifically book with us because we have a strict quiet time policy and this does not mean noise to a minimum - it means quiet. If you like to chat into the small hours, Swallowtails is not the campsite for you.
We are dog friendly (no puppies under 1 year old for glamping bookings). All dogs should be well behaved and not excessively bark for the comfort of other campers.
Glamping check ins are after 4pm and camping check ins are after 2pm.

Inside Yurts

Our stylish large luxury yurts have king sized beds and single daybeds with pull out single mattress trundles, sleeping from 4-5 people.
All our yurts are felt insulated to keep you cosy in the night and cool in the day.

What comes with your yurt?

Daybed (which doubles up as a sofa) with an additional pull out single mattress trundle. All beds have electric blankets.
Power sockets and USB ports are in each yurt.
Wood burning stove. An eco friendly 'starter fire' in the form of award winning heat logs and firelighters are provided. Additional fire logs can be purchased from the supplies shack.
Bedding, towels, tea towels, rugs and blankets.
Spot lights and electric sockets.
Water dispenser for drinking water. You can refill your water dispensers at the water point
Crockery and cutlery, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, tea towel and scourer, washing up liquid, bottle opener, tin opener, cooking equipment, e.g. pots and pans, graters, wooden spoons, spatulas, salad bowls, chopping board and knives, bread knife, colander, tray, mugs, beakers, serving spoons, cooking/salad oil and BBQ utensils.
- We have a fridge in the shared kitchen for your seafood or medication and each yurt has a cool box for chilled foods.

Outside Yurts

You will have your own raised firepit and outside seating to enjoy the great outdoors keeping you warm when the sun goes down.
Table and chairs inside and picnic table for eating meals and a double hammock.

Amenities

What amenities do we provide at Swallowtails?

There is a toilet block and showers available in the stable block for campers (glampers have their own toilets and showers) which are cleaned at least daily, as well as a games room ideal for rainy days
There is a shared kitchen with washing up area, fridge freezer and microwaves.
We have a large kids play area onsite. If you would like to be on a pitch near or away from the kids play area, please email us and we will do our best to place you accordingly.

Swallowtails also provide a range of outdoor adult, family or kids activities in the warmer months.

Information

‘Check In’ is normally from 4pm - 7pm (please try to check in before dark), check out by 11am on the day of departure (to allow for changeover)
On arrival, please follow signs to the car park and park in the car park. Please ring the back doorbell on the main house for assistance or ring either of the 2 numbers on the back door.
We ask guests to use the wheelbarrows provided to bring their possessions to their yurts and at the end of their stay with us. The car park is right next to the glamping area. This preserves the condition of the glade and is safer for young children.
Each yurt is allocated one free parking space in the visitors car park. Please let us know if you are bringing more than one car per booking.
Luxury yurts sleep up to 5 people (if sleeping 5 in one of our 18ft yurts, you will be provided an extra camp bed and bedding.
We encourage guests to get to know each other at the communal campfire. Acoustic musicians and the sound of children playing are welcome at Swallowtails before 10pm. As we have families with young children staying with us, quiet time is 11pm and noise should be kept to a minimum from 10.30pm.
No shoes in the yurts to avoid damage to the yurts especially on a wet day.
